Notice to customers

Due to changes in our staffing situation we are unable to provide swimming lessons for the foreseeable future. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to resume lessons as soon as present staff have gained the relevant qualifications. We hope you will bear with us during these difficulties and keep supporting the pool by bringing your children along to the family friendly and general public sessions. We will endeavour to keep customers informed of any progress via the website, Gairloch Times, local notices and school bag mail.

For those who attended the
New Group sessions there will be two sessions of Junior Lane Swimming to help maintain your fitness, stamina and stroke practice. These sessions will be open to all under 16’s who can swim lengths and will be monitored by our duty lifeguards. Session times Wednesday 6-7pm & Friday 5-6pm.

A guide to swimming lessons

Swimming lessons application form

To help us administer the swimming lessons programme smoothly and ensure that participants receive effective swimming lessons that achieve results, we would appreciate participants and guardians to note the following.

Customers with Highlife cards are required to put their card numbers on their confirmation of booking letter and hand it back to the Pool by the required deadline.

Customers who are not part of the Highlife scheme must pay for the whole course by returning full payment with the booking sheet by the required deadline.

Please accompany your child/children into the Pool. At no time should any child under 8 be left unaccompanied in the Pool.

Anyone who misses two or more weeks of swimming lessons and does not inform us in advance of the reason may be removed from the swimming register.

Where possible we will try to provide the same teacher, however the lessons are structured to ensure standards are maintained regardless of the teacher.

25 mins of the ½ hour lesson will be for teaching the other 5 mins will be for administration purposes.

As we do not have a large amount of space in our changing rooms, all clothing must be put into the bins provided and not left in the changing rooms as this prevents others from getting changed.

For hygiene reasons please ensure that your child showers before the start of the lesson.

It is recommended that your child has 1 hour clear between eating a meal and before the start of swimming lessons.

For safety reasons children with long hair should have it tied back or in a swimming cap.

Parents may observe their child’s lesson from the seated area at poolside but are requested to keep noise to a minimum as pool acoustics can prevent children form hearing instructions from the swim teacher or you can wait in the seated area outside reception.

If you have any concerns about the swimming lessons please put them in writing and hand to the receptionist on duty.

If you wish to speak to the swimming teacher personally about anything please wait until the last lesson is finished (however this could be some considerable time). Alternatively please telephone the pool and speak to the teacher the following day if they are available.

If you are still not satisfied please contact the Leisure Manager – Tel 01445 712345
